If you happen to secure an interview with a company that is stock-market listed, company research is even easier in my view. I recommend you visit the relevant stock exchange websites as a starting point (eg The London Stock Exchange for UK companies or Nasdaq or NYSE for US ones). There are also more user-friendly company research sites for companies here in the UK such as Digital Look or the Financial Times.

Another selection method is the referral. Has someone you know recommended them? How well do you know this person? How do they know the recruiter they are suggesting? Be wary of a general introduction to an agency. Service can vary dramatically from consultant to consultant. Testimonials are useful, but again in what context where they given? When were they given? Are the circumstances similar to your own?
